Does Saint Patrick's Day in Boston live up to the hype?

Does Saint Patrick's Day in Boston live up the hype? We will let you decide once you read the article below.

We arrived in Boston for Saint Patrick's Day 2023 ready to go!

We stayed in the Hilton Doubletree Inn downtown. It is near the entrance to Chinatown and is within easy walking distance to most of the attractions and sights. I don't think we used Uber the entire weekend, other than to and from the airport.

Our first stop once we checked into our room was to get a bite to eat. We stumbled upon Boston Kitchen Pizza near our hotel and we were a little skeptical of their pizza, since it was only $5 for a slice and a drink. Boy were we surpised! The pizza was outstanding! It's a little Mom and Pop place and we enjoyed the pizza so much that we went back a second time the next day.

From there, we ventured out in search of an Irish Pub. There were many to choose from, but we walked into this place called Biddy Early's Pub, and we were not dissapointed. In my experience, there is no better establishment for making new friend's than an Irish Pub, and this place was no different. Tables were scarce because so many people were coming into town, but a young couple invited us to sit with them and we were instant friends! I think they were ordering Jameson shots for the table within 10 minutes of us sitting down. Apaprently they hadn't even checked into their room yet, because they had their bags with them still, and they explained that they come into town every year for St. Paddy's Day, and this was their favorite little pub, so they couldn't wait to stop in and clear the trail dust from their throats, so to speak.

We left there a after a couple of pints with plans to meet our new friend's later that weekend, and headed out to explore more of the city. We had both been to Boston many times before, but never for St. Paddy's.

When we happened across a well-known pub called "Scholar's", we just had to go in and I am so glad that we did. Not only was the food amazing, but when we walked past the next day, there was a line 100 people long just to get in! In this case, we walked right in and bellied up the the bar.

The Clam Chowder was excellent and the fried mushrooms with cheese inside were amazing! The atmosphere was very nice and the bar staff were very professional. We had a great time!

The next morning (St. Patrik's Day) we woke up early and did a bit more sight-seeing. We checked out a few landmarks, shopped in some famous places, like Quincy Market, got a few souvenirs, and just really enjoyed the experience.

We were near Quincy Market, when we happened across another famous pub called "Salty Dog". We stopped in to warm up with some Guiness and green beer, as well as more clam chowder of course! (When in Rome)

By early afternoon, we were ready to go to the room to rest up a bit and get ready to go out to the event that we had been waiting Months for. We had tickets to the Dropkick Murphy's Concert! If you are not familiar with the band, it is the top Irish Rock band in the World and they put on a fantastic show. Many say that their annual Boston show is the best by far. We couldn't wait!

The show was everything that we had hoped for and then some! I think we sang along with every single song. I would have to say it was hands down the best concert I have ever attended. Not only for the music, but the contageous energy and the crowd participation was second to none.

After the show was over, we found this cool bar that was built into the wall of Fenway Park, called the Bleacher Bar. I beleive it was actually underneath the bleachers. They had a cool spot inside that you could see out onto the Diamond and of course take pictures! We got our pictures, but the place was too crowded to get a drink, so we wrapped up our night at a sports bar closer to the hotel and then called it a night.

Our last day in Boston was pretty chill, after sleeping in and getting some more of that amazing pizza from Boston Pizza Kitchen, we did a lot of exploring through the parks and seeing more of the Boston sights. We got to stop by the orginal Cheers Bar and get a tour, which was so much fun! We ended the night relaxing in the hotel lounge with a nightcap, anticpating our early morning flight out the next day.

Our only regret was that we missed the St. Patrick's Day parade. When we booked our flights, we didn't realize that the parade was on Sunday, March 19th, or we would have extended our stay a little in order to attend.

Overall it was a great trip, and yes, it does live up to the hype! I think the only destination that might top it, is St. Paddy's in Dublin. Who knows? We might have to go check that out and compare!
